The Conservation and Restoration of Riparian Forests along Caribbean Riverbanks Using Legume Trees
This article reviews evaluates the potential of native nitrogen-fixing legume trees for soil bioengineering in the Caribbean, given their ecological importance and capacity to improve soil stability and fertility. Five native legume species from distinct riparian ecosystems (swamp forests, evergreen seasonal forests, and rainforests) were selected based on ecological resilience, disturbance tolerance, and seed productivity.
