This project promoted the institutionalization of ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) in Colombia and Ecuador by strengthening capacities, increasing awareness, and integrating EbA into national and local policies. While initial planning weaknesses and the project’s short duration limited large-scale physical implementation and long-term scalability, it successfully established a foundation for future regional EbA initiatives and positioned both countries as early leaders in ecosystem-based climate adaptation in Latin America.
